Terminator Salvation T800

Great news for Terminator fans. Terminator Salvation has raked in $67.5M across 66 territories over the weekend giving it a dominating rule of the international box office.

It more than doubled the earnings of its closest rival Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian ($26.7M).

Terminator Salvation also nabbed the third biggest weekend take in the international market for 2009 to date, trailing only Angels and Demons and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

It scored the 10th biggest opening in history for a Hollywood film in Russia with $8M.

Additionally, with a total international haul of $97.2M Terminator Salvation’s foreign box office is now only $8M short of the US domestic total and is sure to surpass it by the end of this week.

It is now running 21% ahead of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines for the same territories at the same point and Sony note that T3 went on to earn $283M internationally (more than double the US take).

Domestic and International tallies have now exceeded the film’s reported $200M budget.

The chances that we might be fortunate to get Terminator 5 just went up.

This is really good news for the franchise. I think that the odds for T5 just went up quite a bit, since the film is now much more likely to make a profit.

Yeah. Despite the wide ranging and polarizing views out there, I personally loved Terminator Salvation – I thought it was an excellent action film and would be very happy to hear McG has a shot at a sequel.

Same. I really don’t understand why it has so many people talking ill about it, and frankly I don’t want them to explain it to me. I thought the film was an awesome action flick and a great addition to the Terminator series.

I particularly loved the explanation given for how John Connor got his scar.

I loved the irony that Skynet’s plan was the ultimate cause of John Connor becoming leader of the resistance.

I loved the gritty feel to it and the very robotic feel to the Terminators.

It would be easy to pick out a few things that didn’t make sense, but what for? The film was a great action movie and I loved it.

If you haven’t seen it, ignore the polarized viewpoints and go along to enjoy a top action movie.
