‘The Colony’ – A Post Apocalytpic Reality Show

The Colony

Next week a new reality show titled The Colony will air on the Discovery Channel – and it looks very interesting indeed.

The Colony places a group of 10 volunteers of varying backgrounds into a controlled environment designed to simulate a post apocalytpic scenario.  The setting takes place in an urban area outside of Los Angeles after a viral outbreak leads to mass catastrophe.

The idea is to see what it would take for the 10 to survive and rebuild civilization under circumstances that leave them with no electricity, no running water and no communication from the outside world.  Not only that but they’ll have Mad Max style gangs to contend with.

With all the post apocalyptic movies and television shows coming out I can’t help but wonder if the collective unconscious of the human race is aware of something looming on the horizon like, say, a 2012 scenario…

Visit the official The Colony website to learn more.

The Colony airs on the Discovery Channel on July 21 at 10pm E/P.
