Angelina Jolie won't be the new Lara Croft in the 'Tomb Raider' reboot

Whilst attending the black carpet US Premiere of Terminator Salvation Producer Dan Lin spoke with About.com’s Rebecca Murray who asked him about the new Tomb Raider reboot.

“We’re rebooting Lara Croft as well, [we're] real excited,” Lin said. “It’s a great origin story that we’re going to tell, a very character oriented…I would say more realistic [film] than the past Lara Croft movies.”

Lin confirmed that there have been no casting decisions made but that the new film will be an origin story.

Will Angelina Jolie be back?

Lin says they will be seeking a younger actress to play the role of Lara Croft.

Will the new film have full on action?

“It’s not full on action,” Lin says. “I would say its like Terminator…its character driven action.  You know I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action oriented.  I wanted to have action but with character.”

The Tomb Raider reboot, which as yet has not been given a title, is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2012.
