‘True Blood’ Season Two Premieres To Record Ratings
The first episode of the second season of True Blood, titled ‘Nothing but the blood’, has taken the title of the most watched program on HBO since the finale of The Sopranos two years ago.
According to a report on Variety, True Blood’s return drew 3.7 million viewers for the 9 p.m. airing and 1.4 million more for the 11 p.m. telecast making it the largest Sunday audience the series has ever attracted. The total viewer numbers are expected to break 10 million once DVR and video-on-demand numbers are taken into account.
“It even surpassed our expectations,” said Michael Lombardo, president of the HBO programming group.
“What we saw last season was a phenomenon that grew by word of mouth and that has continued. People who finished with the show brought friends with them. The word had gotten out.”
By comparison, season one episodes of True Blood averaged 2 million viewers.

It’s too early in the game for that, however something amazingly bad to ratings would have to occur for it not to be considered a given at this point.
