Two Images From ‘Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus’

Mega Shark vs Giant OctopusOn May 19th the crazy folks at The Asylum, who are most well known for their awful rip-offs of major blockbusters, will release the sci-fi action movie Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on DVD.

With a title like that and knowledge that it stems from The Asylum one would be forgiven for not giving this flick a first look.  However, with the recent release of a couple of images a few people are beginning to wonder – could this actually be worth a watch – at the very least for some B-Grade fun?

First the not so complex storyline.  The California coast becomes the battle ground between two super prehistoric adversaries – a giant shark and a giant octopus.  As these two monstrosities battle for ownership of the sea everyone suffers.  Monsters go at it in our backyard – that pretty much sums it up.

A month ago a very short clip was released which failed to raise temperatures because, well, apart from the CGI there was simply no way to tell that the shark and octopus in question were in fact mega and giant respectively. Here’s the clip:

Now, however, two new images have been released (below) which certainly convey the size we’re talking about.

The Mega Shark takes a liking to the West Gate Bridge

The Giant Octopus tightens its grip on a submarine

You have to admit, the images are cool enough to warrant a second look.

Still, are they cool enough to warrant spending US $22.49 on a copy of the DVD? We don’t know, but we’re going to give credit where it’s due – the film isn’t a rip off of a major blockbuster..as far as we’re aware.  That’s a step forward for The Asylum.

Grab Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus from Amazon on May 19 for some fun.
