Two More Cast Members Join ‘Thor’
Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY / Rest Stop) and Colm Feore (The Chronicles of Riddick / 24 / Changeling) have joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming feature film adaptation of Thor.
Alexander will play the Asgardian warrior Sif and one of Thor’s loves.
Feore has been cast as a villain, although who exactly remains a mystery.
Thor is described as follows:
This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Australian Chris Hemsworth stars in the lead role as Thor. British actor Tom Hiddleston will play the villain Loki.
Additional cast include Natalie Portman as thor’s human love interest Jane Foster, and Brian Blessed will play Odin.
Kenneth Branagh will direct the film and Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige is producing.
The story of Thor is based on a composition of many storyline arcs from the Marvel comic, and promises to be dark and gritty.
Production on Thor kicks off early next year.
Thor will now be released May 20, 2011 (originally set for Jun 17, 2011).
