Two posters for John Hillcoat’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama The Road have been released.

Directed by John Hillcoat (The Proposition), The Road is based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel of the same name and has been billed as an Oscar hopeful. Esquire have even referred to it as ‘the most important movie of the year’.

It stars Viggo Mortenson, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, Garret Dillahunt and Robert Duvall.

The Road will be released:
USA – October 16, 2009
Australia – sometime in November
UK – January 8, 2010.
