UK’s ITV Acquires ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Comic-Con Update
Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley star in 'The Vampire Diaries'
ITV has secured the rights to the upcoming new series The Vampire Diaries.
Based on the best-selling book series by L.J. Smith, The Vampires Diaries is a new romantic drama from Kevin Williamson (Scream / I Know What You Did Last Summer / Dawson’s Creek), in which two vampire brothers – one good, one evil – are at war for the soul of a high school girl and the souls of her friends and family.
ITV is the biggest commercial television network in the UK and The Vampire Diaries will now be a focal point of ITV2’s schedule in 2010.
President of Warner Bros International Television, Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, said: “Despite speculation as to UK buyers’ appetite and pricing for US programs this year, the acquisition of The Vampire Diaries by ITV2 proves that in-demand series will still generate significant interest and license fees in the UK. This show was one of the most highly sought-after at the LA Screenings, attracting interest from numerous broadcasters. We are especially pleased to place this series targeted at the youth audience on ITV2, as we believe this is the perfect home for the show.”
The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Paul Wesley (Fallen / Everwood), Ian Somerhalder (Lost), Steven R. McQueen (Everwood), Katerina Graham (17 Again), Sara Canning (Smallville), Candice Accola (Supernatural), Zach Roerig (Friday Night Lights), Kayla Ewell (Entourage) and Michael Trevino (The Riches).

The Vampire Diaries cast and crew will be attending a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con in room 6BCF (after the Human Target panel) on Saturday July 25 from 6-7pm. Stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder will be there along with executive producer/writer Kevin Williamson, writer Julie Plec and executive producer Bob Levy.
The Vampire Diaries premieres in the US on the CW Network Thursday September 10 at 8/9c.

I can recommend a few vampire books:
The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine.
Obviously The Twilight Saga.
House of Night Series by P.C.Cast and Kristin Cast.
If you fancy a change of topic but in a similar style try:

Love Twilight so this is really appealing to me, might have to invest in the Books.
Well for all you Brits that want to know when it starts, currently ITV2 is still saying Coming Soon, and i have checked it definately is not starting on 24th January 2010 at 9pm as Die another day is scheduled!

Have set it on Sky+ as well for 2nd Feb. can’t wait for it. Also obsessed since Twilight, but have been a vamp fan since The Lost Boys in the 1980s and roleplaying Vampire in the 1990’s. But currently reading New Moon, after reading Twilight, watching both films and reading Eclipse and Breaking Dawn in 2 days!! LOL

the names of all the vampire diaries books are called 1&2: the awakening and the struggle. 3&4: the reunion and the fury. 5 is called Nightfall. 6 is called Shadow souls then the 7th one thats out soon is called Midnight

hey i love twilight read all the book except the short second life of bree tanner ive got it though im in the middle of another book. i love all super naturel things and i love vampire diaries i ve got the books 1&2, 3&4,5,6 ive watched the eposodes in season one does anyone no when the second season is comin out.

Second series of VD is aired Sept 10th in the states so if they stick to the way they have been showing us shows this year that means we should start getting it Sept 17th ish but who knows with these shows they make britain wait so long grrrr I will post back whne I kno for sure if nooon beats me to it that is lol

Heya, loved the vampire diaries books! lol! I hate the way that the vampire diaries has had to change loads of it though so it doesn’t look like they’ve coppied twilight! Ahhhh! HELLO, 10 YEARS DIFFERENCE! anyhow, i think i like like some of the changes made, but i think Elana should still have been blonde. PLEASE ITV, TELL US WHEN SEASON 2′S GONNA BE SHOWN IN UK! I hope its not to long after the U.S. get it! obv. in Autumn.
p.s no offence to twilight, i still love it! read all the books (inc. the short second life of Bree Tanner lol!) ages ago, before any of the films came out!

Hi everyone… can’t wait for Vampire Diaries to come out in the uk… like everyone else i love vampire programmes/films… I strongly recommend people watch True Blood or even read the books… they are brilliant and the vampire Eric and werewolf Alcid are soooooooo HOT just like Damon. Although in True Blood Alcid doesn’t come into it untill the third episode. Both programme and books are so saucy, if you know what i mean

thursday 9th september 8:00pm on channel CW the only problem…what channel is CW in the uk, i hope it isnt fully coming back on channel CW because then i wont be able to watch it and that will be dissapointing….

on the itv2 website if u look on september sunday the 19th there is an hour space from 9pm with no information to what is on that hour theres programs on before and after so maybe its on then cant be sure tho hope it is! its defo back in the autum at some point coz its on itv2s autum lineup list!

Defo Autumn for Vampire Diaries in the UK. The usual slot for it on ITV2 is a Tuesday night at 9pm followed by repeats of that showing throughout the week and the weekend.
I am assuming that it will remain in the same time slot!
There have been no confirmations of the dates, checked Vampirediaries online, nothing, checked ITV2 website, nothing.
I guess like me, we have to sit tight and wait for our Tuesday nights to heat up again! I am currently watching all of Season 1 having bought the box set to see me through. Wow, falling in love with Ian Somerhalder all over again! Yummy Yummy!!

If you look on itv website their is a show listed for the 21st where the vampire diaries cast gets interviewed so im guessing the show will not be airing before that I still feel it will be later in the year or early in the new year

Im pretty sure its gonna start on Tues 21st Sept at 9pm, maybe a double-episode premiere too. I reckon this because of The Vampire Diaries: The Hot Desk being on Tues 21st @ 7:45pm. I jst think it would b a bit random to show that & then not premiere Season 2 that night, especially when there’s nothing else scheduled yet on ITV2 from 9-11pm… Im gonna keep my eyes & ears at the ready lol fingers crossed, love this bloody show!!!

I know at the moment there is a huge twilight craze and yes i am a fan although, the vampire diarys are much more entertaining and cannot even be compared, the vampire diarys portray a slow and meaningfull relationship within every character, and the story never seizes to amaze me.
I cannot wait for the season 2!

tv-dome.net when u get there go to the search bar in top right hand cornor type in the vampire diaries it shld come up with a list of first season and then the top one is season to when u click on it it will come up with stupid download things there will be an add in the middel of the box below it will tell u to skip and play do that and bingo u can watch it! hope u get it to work. let me no if ya do xx
