‘Underworld 4′ the First in a New Trilogy?

Three days ago it was reported Screen Gems were moving ahead to produce a fourth Underworld film.
Now rumors are surfacing that not only will Underworld 4 happen, but that it might also be the first film of a new Underworld trilogy that will follow the character of Selene in a story spanning three films.
Selene was previously played by Kate Beckinsale – there’s no word on whether or not she’ll reprise her role. Word is Underworld: Rise of the Lycans director Patrick Tatopoulos won’t be returning due to other commitments.
Underworld 4 (which will probably be re-titled) will be filmed in 3-D with an expected release in January 2011.
