Unprecedented ‘2012′ TV Ad Campaign

2012

Sony Pictures are about to run a television campaign to promote Roland Emmerich’s 2012 that will rake in an audience four times larger than the Super Bowl.

The plan is to air a two minute scene from 2012 on virtually every major TV and Cable network in North America.  By doing so the studio expects to reach 110 million viewers.

If you want to see the two minute clip, you’ll have to glue your eyes to the square between 10:50 and 11:00 P.M. EST/PST on October 1, 2009.  Which channel?  Try ABC, NBC, CBS, your local station, any Spanish-language network, or any of the 89 Cable outlets.  Pretty much pick a random channel and you should be good.

They sure are putting an awful lot of finances into revving up this movie. Imagine how much better the special effects will be when they play out in reality. Survivor will pale in comparison.

I do hope that the movie has some redeeming factors. Roland Emmerich often puts an important message into his movies – like if you don’t wake up now, things are gonna get bad…

I don’t like playing on the fears of an impending apocalypse but sometimes it works – if the message in the end is you can stop it if you act Now.

In the book, “the 100th human – a 2012 novel” the idea of a 2012 ending looms – and yet the message is: you can make a difference in what the outcome will be – and here are 8 ways to do it…

Or its just all fiction – no apocalypse, no end, like Y2K – just more of the same – on and on… geez that is scarier sometimes. Okay not as scary as Emmerich’s idea of 2012, according to the previews.

I will see the 2012 movie, I encourage you to see this trailer and read the book: http://www.the100thhuman.com/trailer.html
