‘Watchmen’ Directors Cut Gets Limited Theatrical Release
Warner Bros. is releasing Zack Snyder’s directors cut of Watchmen at theaters one week before Comic-Con International in San Diego. Unfortunately the release will be a very limited run with screenings to be held only in Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Dallas.
Zack Snyder’s directors cut includes 25 minutes of additional footage and the death of a supporting character.
The limited theatrical run will begin on July 17th and will end with a special screening on July 25 at Comic-Con.
The Comic-Con event will be a BD-Live and Blu-ray event enabling any viewer in North America to watch the movie simultaneously as the audience at Comic-Con. The viewing will include the ability to see and hear Zack Snyder comment on the movie and even allow interaction to ask questions. The director’s cut will then become available to purchase on Blu-ray and DVD from July 21 and will include the Comic-Con event as a special feature via digital download from Amazon (click the image below to check it out).
Given the limited release it is suggested if you’re close enough to a theater to be able to see the film, book your tickets in advance.
