‘Wolverine’ On Track For $80M-$90M Opening Weekend

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is on track to make in the vicinity of $80M – $90M after a strong $35.2M opening day.

It now enters the history books with the 16th highest-grossing opening day ever (and 22nd all time if inflation is factored in).

Compared to previous summer season first day releases, Wolverine is the fourth biggest behind only Spiderman 3, Spiderman and Iron Man.  Interestingly it knocked X2 ($31.2M) out of fourth place, although with inflation factored in X2 would have retained its spot.
