X-Files 3 Update From David Duchovny

Since 2008, after the box-office major disappointment The X-Files: I Want to Believe, practically every hope was lost of ever seeing Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on the big screen. However, recently reports have been issued that stated there was a new X-Files film planned whose script was “in the process of being written.” David Duchovny is claimed to have said:
It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor
reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc.
However, there is also a version that the meaning of Duchovny’s words was lost in translation, and in reality no X-Files 3 is in the process of the making. Of course there is a major difference between a firm intention to shoot a movie and “the process of writing a script” for it, yet let us hope that even if this was a translation error, it will serve as a sign that the movie will still be released sooner or later.

I think it’s pretty easy to nail this one down. Firstly Fox Searchlight is looking for a big movie. The X Files is going to be it. In Fact Fox is desperate to get another X Files movie out, to help Searchlight pick up more at the box office after its own returns have been pretty meager over the past 12 months or so.
Duchovny “Carter is writing a new X Files Script, Fox where pissed of with the state of the Box office return from I want to believe. Fox Searchlight told Carter not to use government conspiracies, alien abductions as it would only confuse the fee paying public..and they want to bring in non x files customers. Carter allegedy told Searchlight, the X Files can only be aimed at the fans if you change it, it essentially becomes something else. Searchlight where adamant on what they wanted and the movie bombed, no surprises there.
However recently several fan groups have got together and written fox countless times demanding they make another X Files film.
Fox where quoted as saying they where interested but they had to stick to what the x files was famous for (remember fox network and fox searchlight are essentially two different companies under the same roof. One is for network television and the other is for in house movies, there are also other subsidiaries that also make movies.
Carter is in the process of writing a pitchable script to searchlight, searchlight so far are interested in it’s premise. Whether fox pick it up for a movie is another thing entirely. But from what Duchovny said it’s looking good for Searchlight to greenlight this next spring, ready for shooting next summer (remember Duchovny as his own show, californication and needs to work around it which isn’t exactly an easy thing to do.) Pretty much nailed on the wall this is going to happen, the demand has never gone away..the last movie flopped massively because it really want the x files (name only imo).
