Sam Worthington About ‘Avatar 2′

avatar_2

The last piece of news that we heard about Avatar sequel that is due in 2014 is that James Cameron will begin work on is script early next year, with the production set to being at the end of 2011. Judging from the fact that Avatar begain filming in April 2007, and was only released 2.5 years later, we might possibly expect a similar time-frame again. On the other way,  because Cameron and his crew are going to make two films during this period of time (the third part of the trilogy being planned for reease in 2015), perhaps that might take a bit more. Anyway, Sam Worthington whose acting schedule seems to be pretty much determined by the upcoming shoots, has recently given an interview where he said that James Cameron had some great ideas about the 2nd and 3rd parts of Pandora adventures. Will ‘Battle Angel’ be James Cameron’s Next Film After All?

Battle Angel Alita

Battle Angel was meant to be the film that heralded the return of James Cameron.  Then it was to be a film shot back to back with Avatar, before it was put completely on hold in favor of Avatar.

It has since been speculated that Battle Angel would be Cameron’s next film, although Cameron himself has done nothing more than stamp a big “mabye” on the idea.

“Maybe, maybe,” Cameron told MTV last month when asked if Battle Angel would be his next film. “We’re going to look at that.”

Now producer Jon Landau, who worked as producer with Cameron on Titanic and Avatar and who will produce Battle Angel, has given fans their biggest hint yet that Battle Angel is finally on the way and may, in all likelihood, be Cameron’s next film.

James Cameron Talks ‘Battle Angel’ and ‘Avatar 2′

Whilst attending the San Diego Comic-Con MTV managed to score a brief interview with James Cameron.

During the interview Cameron was asked if Battle Angel would be his next film.

“Maybe, maybe,” Cameron replied. “We’re going to look at that.”

Although MTV state in their article that Battle Angel is Cameron’s next feature film, I wouldn’t go jumping for joy just yet if you’re a Battle Angel fan.  Whilst attending the James Cameron/Peter Jackson panel an audience member asked the same question and Cameron basically said that he was still interested in the project, but not just yet.  Read more about the Battle Angel project and watch his reponse to the question here.

Additionally, at the end of the MTV interview Cameron manages to slip in the possibility that Avatar 2 could come before Battle Angel.  Given that the story to Avatar is said to lend itself to a trilogy, it certainly seems likely that if Avatar is a success, Cameron would be keen to finish off the trilogy that he started planning some 14 years ago.
