Push – According to the Box Office results on the IMDB Chris Evens and Dakota Fannings new super power movie, Push, has surprised big time. The movie has grossed over $122M to date and received a sound 7.0 rating. For what was really a relatively unknown movie as far as many people were concerned, and considering that its takings have actually been going up weekend to weekend rather than down, Push is proving itself to be a winner.
Franklyn – Three new international posters have surfaced. Check em out in the movie poster section.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Thomas Dekker, aka John Connor, has commented on some of what to expect for the rest of the season in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s an interesting read to say the least, but there are some spoilers in his comments so if you want to read them be prepared. No spoilers are in these news posts so to read his comments you’ll have to visit Canmag. TSCC returns to Fox tomorrow.
Knowing – A preview clip has surfaced from Nicholas Cage’s new sci fi thriller, Knowing. It’s the subway scene and basically its a spoiler so don’t watch it if you don’t want it spoiled. If you don’t mind, then check it out here.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Paramount Pictures have announced Michael Bay’s highly anticipated robot action flick will hit now hit theaters on June 24. It’s only two days earlier, but for many fans that’s a big deal. Read the rest of this entry »
Here’s the latest sci fi news. There’s isn’t a lot which I suppose makes this an easy read.
Terminator: Salvation – Christian Bale made headlines this week with a dummy spit aimed at the Director of Cinematography on the set of Terminator: Salvation. The anger episode occurred some time ago but a recorded audio of the event only found its way to the internet this week. In the audio Bale uses more ‘F’ words than is worth counting and threatens to not only bash Shane Hurlbut but also to destroy his lighting set up. Have a listen here. Enough said (and, in my view, hilarious)! In other Terminator: Salvation news, an image was also released of the T600 (left/below) which looks pretty damn cool.
Heroes - NBC’s Heroes returned this week and recorded strong ratings with Season 3 Episode 14, A Clear and Present Danger (which forms part of Volume: 4 Fugitives). Despite the strong ratings, I have to review this episode as very average. The script was poor to say the least and continuing the plot outline of ’super powered people just trying to be normal’ is now quite unbelievable. That said, after whining about how poor the series had become, the last twenty minutes of the episode really ramped up and set the scene for a potential turn around in what can only be described as a continuing deterioration since Season 2. If Tim Kring can stop making Hiro seem like an idiot and stop the ‘I just want to blend into society and be normal’ routine, and stop taking away powers from the main characters, and add some common sense to the characters, that’d be a good start. The last part of this episode sort of started this process. Let’s hope it continues. Read the rest of this entry »
Battlestar Galactica – Want to buy a full size Colonial Viper? Your chance is now. Between January 16-17 the Auction Network are going mad on auctioning off real Battlestar Galactica props. Not just any old prop either, some very cool and very iconic gear is included in this auction. No need for me to list the items as there are far too many. In fact, if you can name it as a prop from the show it’s probably in the auction. These are the real deal, so if you’ve got some money to burn head on over to The Official Battlestar Galactica Props and Costumes Auction and take a look at what’s up for sale. Oh yes, and don’t forget, the final eleven episodes begin airing today!
Terminator: Salvation – McG has let more info out about Terminator: Salvation – a lot more. Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor in the first two movies, will be back. Not in person, but doing a voice over. Remember Sarah Connor (John Connor’s mother) was making tape recordings for her son in the 1984 Terminator movie? Well these will be the recordings we hear in Salvation (freshly recorded by Linda Hamilton). If that wasn’t cool enough, McG also hints that talks are underway for Arnold Schwarzenegger to become involved – whatever it is it will probably be minor, but it’s looking like he will be involved in some capacity. Rumors have it that there may be Terminator T800’s sporting Schwarzenegger’s face in the movie, perhaps using some form of CGI capacity. Read the rest of this entry »
A couple of days ago I wrote a single post covering all the sci fi related news of the day. That seemed to work well from both a writing and reading perspective. What I might try from hereon is writing one post to cover the bulk of the news of the day and individual posts for specific, mind blowing news. That way you’ll know if it’s a post on Sci Fi Scoop it’s of value because it will either contain a decent summary of the day’s sci fi news or something big and worthy of its own post.
