Alexandrew Desplat to score 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'

Alexandre Desplat to score 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'

Upcoming Film Scores have broken the news that French music composer Alexandre Desplat will be scoring the Twilight sequel.

This means that Desplat replaces original Twilight music composer Carter Burwell.  Why you might ask?  Because The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s director Chris Weitz already has “an ongoing working relationship with Desplat.”

Two time Oscar nominee Desplat’s previous credits include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Golden Compass, Firewall, Derailed, Hostage, Tristan, and The Nest.

David Slade To Direct ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

The Twilight Saga

David Slade (30 Days of Night / Hard Candy) has been tapped to direct the third Twilight movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

The Story of Eclipse will follow heroine Bella Swan as she nears graduation while trying to navigate the dangers of the ongoing vampire-werewolf struggle.  Mysterious killings turn up around Seattle and a malicious vampire looks for revenge.

“I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing Eclipse, ” said writer Stephenie Meyer. “He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight saga, and I’m so happy that Eclipse will be carrying on with that tradition.”

Summit president of production Erik Feig added: “Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse is a muscular, rich, vivid book, and we at Summit looked long and hard for a director who could do it justice. We believe we have found that talent in David Slade, a director who has been able to create complex, visually arresting worlds.”

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be released in theaters June 30 2010, but not before The Twilight Saga: New Moon which hits theaters November 20, 2009.

USA Today have posted the first picture of the Wolf Pack from the sequel to Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Of course, it’s not the entire Wolf Pack.  Shown are Paul (Alex Meraz), Sam (Chaske Spencer), Jared (Bronson Pelletier) and Embry (Kiowa Gordon). Not included are additional Wolf Pack actors Tyson Houseman and Taylor Lautner.

According to USA Today a part of the Wolf Pack job requirement is the ability to work without clothes no matter the weather in Vancouver.

“It’s not pleasant for the actors,” says director Chris Weitz. “But they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, ‘OK, off with the robes.’”

Another requirement imposed on the actors is their ability to officially approve their Native American or First Nation ancestry since their characters belong to the Quileute tribe, based in La Push, Wash.

“They had to have papers that proved their heritage,” says director Chris Weitz, who was the one who insisted on hiring within the community. “And they had to be in good physical shape.”

The film will follow Kristen Stewarts character Bella as she is drawn into the world of werewolves.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is scheduled for release:
November 19 – Australia
November 20 – USA
November 27 – UK
