Ten new images from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen have surfaced.

Interestingly, the first ‘official’ photo from MichaelBay.com is of Australian actress Isabel Lucas who plays Alice in the new film.  You can watch an interview with Isabel Lucas about her role in the film here and read a little more about her other upcoming vampire film Daybreakers here.

Linkin Park Work On ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

A couple of weeks ago we learned that Linkin Park and famed composer Hans Zimmer were working with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen music composer Steve Jablonsky on incorporating a Linkin Park song in the film. That song is ‘New Divide’ and in the following video we get a glimpse of Linkin Park at work.

‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’: New Megan Fox Image

Yahoo Movies have posted a gallery of images from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.  The gallery contains images we’ve posted here before, except for one which is a new image of Megan Fox playing Mikaela Banes in the film. Since there’s only been a handful of stills released from Revenge of the Fallen that have featured the woman voted as “sci-fi’s sexiest”, and since this is about the best one released so far, we thought we’d post it too.

McG Calls Out Michael Bay

On the left: Mcg, On the Right: Michael Bay

On the left: Mcg, On the Right: Michael Bay

Two of this years biggest movies involve giant robots: Terminator Salvation from Director McG and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen from Director Michael Bay.  Perhaps it was always going to be the case such a situation would result in a rivalry beyond the box office.

You see, earlier in the year Michael Bay took a swipe at McG over, wait for it, his giant robot.  It began when Bay saw the giant Harvester Terminator in the first Terminator Salvation preview.  Immediately Bay posted a message on MichaelBay.com:

“We’ve seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on.”

McG retaliated, ”It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots. I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time.”

Bay later quipped that he’d love to see his Transformers take on Terminators (apart from at the box office).  Thing’s went silent for a little while, at which point we thought the rivalry was done (save for the zillions of Transformers fans vs Terminator fans that immediately went crazy on message boards).

Then McG publicly stated his view that Terminator’s are more realistic than Transformers, announcing:  “I think Transformers is a terrific picture, but that’s a picture whose genesis is in a toy. They’re sort of more colourful and optimistic and the pictures are sort of breakdancing and flips and backspins. But ours is a very different, real world. Ours is a world of, ‘This is where we can be ten years from now.’”

Jablonsky Still Scoring ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’

Yesterday we reported that Linkin Park and Hans Zimmer were working on the score to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. At the time, no one seemed to know what this development meant for Steve Jablonsky’s score.

We can now clarify exactly what is going on, the most important part being the news that Steve Jablonsky is still the music composer behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Steve kindly took the time out of his busy schedule to contact us and clarify the situation. This is what he told us:

In a nutshell, Michael Bay sent the new Linkin Park song over to my studio. Hans and I had a listen, and we both thought it was really cool, and it might be interesting to try incorporating some of those elements into the score. So we got the guys from the band down to the studio and talked about how to do that. They’re all really cool guys and really excited about adding some of their sounds to the score.

But I am still the composer on this film. It has all gotten rather complicated. The film is BIG, and now that we’ve got Linkin Park involved, Hans has kind of been helping me keep the production on track, because I’m so focused on writing the score at the moment.

So good news all round as we can now expect a brilliant Steve Jablonsky score with the involvement of legend Hans Zimmer and Linkin Park.

If you don’t know much about Jablonsky’s original score to the first Transformers movie, then you’re missing out.  We highly suggest you grab yourself a copy.  You can hear a few snippets in the MP3 widget below:

Hans Zimmer & Linkin Park Scoring ‘Revenge Of The Fallen’?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

On the 23rd of April it was announced over at MichaelBay.com that Linkin Park were teaming up with composer Steve Jablonsky on the score for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

On the 24th of April it was announced on MikeShinoda.com that Linkin Park were teaming up with Hans Zimmer to help score Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – with no mention of Steve Jablonsky.  This is also the first time we’ve heard of Hans Zimmer being associated to the film.

Apparently a song Linkin Park wrote for the film is being used as one of the themes, and various interpolations of that theme will be used throughout the film – and Hans Zimmer has been working on those.

From MikeShinoda.com:

My bandmates and I are working with award-winning film composer (and resident ass-kicker) Hans Zimmer. We met with Hans last week, and heard some of the incredible things he and his guys have done with our new song. In the next few days, we’ll be doing some work with Hans’ amazing writing and recording crew.

Jablonsky composed the score to the first Transformers movie.  His score was superb, and in our opinion was THE best thing about the movie – and one of the best scores of 2007 (if not the best).  His new score is the only thing we’ve been looking forward to in regards to the sequel.

So what does this mean for Jablonsky’s score?  Will his score be replaced in parts, will it be broken up with Linkin Park and Hans Zimmer music, will the score be a synthesis of Linkin Park/Hans Zimmer/Steve Jablonsky, or has Jablonsky’s music been completely replaced at the last minute?  We don’t yet have the answers, although given the announcement on MichaelBay.com we’d wager Jablonsky’s score hasn’t been completely replaced.

Here at Sci Fi Scoop we love Linkin Park and we consider Hans Zimmer to be one of the best if not THE best film composer in the business.  However, the only thing we’ve been looking forward to in Revenge of the Fallen has been Jablonsky’s new score.  We will therefore take a keen interest in reporting more on this as it becomes known.

‘Transformers’ Sequel Has Same Tone As The First Movie

Bumblebee in the clip from Michael Bays ShoWest footage

If the trailers for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen have convinced you the sequel will be darker and more geared towards an adult audience, think again.  Co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci recently told Sci Fi Wire that the sequel has the same tone as the first movie.

“Actually, I think you’ll find that it has all the same tone of the first movie,” Kurtzman said. “The story’s a little smoother, and it’s a little bit darker, so it does dip in there a little bit, but it has all the same humor, if not more than the first movie.”

Any final doubt as to whether or not the sequel would be darker and aimed at a more mature audience was also erased when Michael Bay released his ShoWest footage online last week.  The clip has since been pulled, but to recap it showed a two minute clip of Sam complaining about his desire for a normal life and Bumblebee crying actual water (let’s say ‘fluid’ just to be sure) when told he would be left behind in favor of college.  Without question the clip demonstrated the new film is for children.

The only question on our lips is whether or not the action sequences will also be delivered in the same way as the first movie – full of shaking, unwatchable close-ups.

For kids, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will no doubt be an enjoyable and fun movie.  We however will be waiting for DVD.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens June 24.
