I Am Legend – Francis Lawrence has been out promoting the new NBC magic-meets-a-modern-medieval-monarchy soap opera Kings and has dropped a few comments relating to I Am Legend. Lawrence directed the 2007 movie starring Will Smith and it looks like he wants to do a prequel. Apparently Will Smith wants in as well. There’s only one question on fans lips: why?
Iron Man leads the 7th Annual VES Awards – Golden Globe’s and Academy Awards mean a lot less to many sci-fi fans than do the VES awards, where some of the unsung heroes of the sci-fi genre get their well deserved recognition – those tireless but talented people who bring imagination to life through visual effects. The 7th Annual VES Awards Ceremony is scheduled for February 21, 2009. Of the nominees Iron Man is the stand-out with five category nominations including best visual effects in a visual effects-driven movie, best single visual effect of the year, outstanding animated character in a live-action movie, outstanding models and miniatures in a feature, and outstanding special effects in a movie. It’s up against some stiff competition though – if you want to see the extensive full list of nominations, head on over to The Visual Effects Society. Read the rest of this entry »
Battlestar Galactica – Want to buy a full size Colonial Viper? Your chance is now. Between January 16-17 the Auction Network are going mad on auctioning off real Battlestar Galactica props. Not just any old prop either, some very cool and very iconic gear is included in this auction. No need for me to list the items as there are far too many. These are the real deal, so if you’ve got some money to burn head on over to The Official Battlestar Galactica Props and Costumes Auction and take a look at what’s up for sale. Oh yes, and don’t forget, the final eleven episodes begin airing today!
Terminator: Salvation – McG has let more info out about Terminator: Salvation – a lot more. Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor in the first two movies, will be back. Not in person, but doing a voice over. Remember Sarah Connor (John Connor’s mother) was making tape recordings for her son in the 1984 Terminator movie? Well these will be the recordings we hear in Salvation (freshly recorded by Linda Hamilton). If that wasn’t cool enough, McG also hints that talks are underway for Arnold Schwarzenegger to become involved – whatever it is it will probably be minor, but it’s looking like he will be involved in some capacity. Rumors have it that there may be Terminator T800’s sporting Schwarzenegger’s face in the movie, perhaps using some form of CGI capacity. Read the rest of this entry »
The third movie in the Underworld franchise, titled Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is set for release in a few weeks time (January 23 to be precise). It is a prequel story that traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the Death Dealer vampires and their one time slaves, the Lycan werewolfs.
Again directed by Danny McBride (director of both Underworld and Underworld: Evolution), but this time not starring Kate Beckinsale, the story behind Rise of the Lycans takes place in the Dark Ages. It follows a young Lycan who rallies the werewolves to rise up against the king of the Death Dealers who has enslaved them and promises plenty of cool action.
Bloody-disgusting.com have posted 27 new hi-res images from the upcoming film, so if you want to check out some cool shots, head on over and take a look here.
