When production on ABC’s sci-fi series V was shut down at the beginning of the month Warner Bros. Television and ABC announced the reason was to “take advantage of our November premiere to maximize creative opportunities and deliver the audience the best show possible.”
At the time two rumors were floating around that stripped away some of the fluffiness of the official statement. One rumor suggested the studio was unhappy with the quality of the first seven episodes by comparison to the quality of the pilot. This rumor suggested the studio had shut down production to evaluate its options.
Warner Bros. have been claiming that their “reboot” of the 1980’s sci-fi series V is so different from the original that it is original and, therefore, they don’t need to give credit to original V series creator, Kenneth Johnson.
Kenneth Johnson didn’t agree, leading to an arbitration hearing with the Writers Guild of America who, in turn, agreed with Johnson.
ABC have confirmed their remake of the 1980’s sci-fi series V will premiere on Tuesday, November 3 at 8pm.
The announcement occurred during a news conference at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, alongside a couple of extra spoilerific tidbits:

From a preview night that saw the premiere of the entire pilot episode, to a Saturday panel and a number of interviews, the San Diego Comic-Con 2009 has served up quite a bit of information about ABC’s upcoming new sci-fi series V – and a little bit of controversy too.
Attendees at the panel included producer and writer Scott Peters, actors Elizabeth Mitchell, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Jace Hall and Scott Wolf.
Unlike some panels where not even a snippet of footage was shown (yes Fringe, I’m looking at you), Comic-Con fans were treated to the premiere of the entire V pilot episode. Unfortunately this left little time for a Q&A session.
There are some pretty big spoilers in this article, so read at your own risk (as with any comic-con panel interviews).
E!Online have posted a schedule of events at this years Comic Con and have confirmed that the pilot to V will premiere there.
If you want to be the first to see V, you’ll want to score a seat at the San Diego Convention Centre at 2:45-3:45pm on Saturday July 25.
The complete programming schedule will be posted on the Comic Con Website about two weeks prior to the show.

Morena Baccarin stars in 'V'

ABC have released a ton of promotional images from V – their remake of the 1980’s sci-fi series of the same name.
V re-imagines the original series’ premise of a world that wakes up to find spaceships over every major city. The Visitors claim to have come in peace, bringing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs. They promise to do no harm. The story follows Homeland Security agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) who stumbles upon the Visitor’s true plans – that the aliens intend to infiltrate our governments and businesses towards ultimately controlling mankind.
The new series boasts an all-star cast including Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell (aka Juliet), Joel Gretsch (The 4400 / Minority Report / Push), Scott Wolf (Double Dragon / White Squall / Party of Five), Morena Baccarin (Firefly / Serenity / Stargate SG-1) and lan Tudyk (Firefly).
