‘Where the Wild Things Are’ Breaks Box Office Record

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Where the Wild Things Are has finished no.1 at the box office over the weekend, pulling in an estimated $32.5M in ticket sales.

Where the Wild Things Are, directed by Spike Jonze and adapted from Maurice Sendak’s best selling 1963 book of the same name, follows 11 year old Max Records as he creates his own fantasy world – a forest inhabited by wild creatures that crown him as their ruler.

“Tribute must be paid to Spike Jonze, who took a brilliant book and created brilliant film from it,” said Dan Fellman, president of theatrical distribution for Warner Bros.

The flick broke a record for Warner Bros., setting its biggest opening weekend ever for an October release.
