20th Century Fox have three 60-second television spots to preview X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and the first has aired.  The second spot will air during an episode of House on Feb 16, and the third during (gasp) American Idol on Feb 17.  But for now, here’s the first one that was aired during Family Guy.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine promo to the promo clip

Commencing this Sunday Fox will be releasing 3 60-second promo’s to the new X-Men: Origins: Wolverine movie.  There’s going to be a lot of cameo’s in this movie (cameo’s of super hero characters that is).  In preparation for the promo’s Fox has released a 12 second clip (yes, it’s a promo of a promo) in which you can clearly see one of the more well known X-Men character’s who will be cameoing in the new movie.  I’m not saying who, so don’t watch it if you don’t want the spoiler.

Sci Fi News and a heap of new eye candy

Watchmen
Push – According to the Box Office results on the IMDB Chris Evens and Dakota Fannings new super power movie, Push, has surprised big time.  The movie has grossed over $122M to date and received a sound 7.0 rating.  For what was really a relatively unknown movie as far as many people were concerned, and considering that its takings have actually been going up weekend to weekend rather than down, Push is proving itself to be a winner.

Franklyn – Three new international posters have surfaced.  Check em out in the movie poster section.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Thomas Dekker, aka John Connor, has commented on some of what to expect for the rest of the season in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  It’s an interesting read to say the least, but there are some spoilers in his comments so if you want to read them be prepared.  No spoilers are in these news posts so to read his comments you’ll have to visit Canmag.  TSCC returns to Fox tomorrow.

Knowing – A preview clip has surfaced from Nicholas Cage’s new sci fi thriller, Knowing.  It’s the subway scene and basically its a spoiler so don’t watch it if you don’t want it spoiled.  If you don’t mind, then check it out here.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Paramount Pictures have announced Michael Bay’s highly anticipated robot action flick will hit now hit theaters on June 24.  It’s only two days earlier, but for many fans that’s a big deal. Read the rest of this entry »

Sci Fi News for the weekend 17-18 January 2009

X-Men Origins: WolverineI’ve been avoiding the news so as not to spoil Battlestar Galactica’s return, and hence the delay in posting this latest news summary.  But that’s all done now so here we go with the weekend’s sci fi news summary:

Stargate Universe – The cast list keeps growing.  It isn’t finalized yet as two cast members remain unannounced.  Those that have been announced are Justin Louis, David Blue, Brian J. Smith and Jamil Walker.  Looks like, at least to begin with, it’s an all human team.

If you want to learn about which characters these actors will play, and who are the remaining two characters yet to be cast, head on over a read ‘The Characters of Stargate Universe‘ article at Gateworld.

Terminator: Salvation – It seems not a day goes by without news on this 2009 blockbuster.  The latest news is that Kyle Reese will be in the new Terminator movie and will be played by actor Anton Yelchin. Remember Kyle Reese in 1984’s Terminator was played brilliantly by Michael Biehn – Yelchin has some mega-metal destroying shoes to fill.  Read the rest of this entry »

One sci fi news article to bind them all

Sam Worthington in Terminator:SalvationWell, today I’m going to do something a little different.  Whereas on other days I keep each individual article centred on an individual subject, today I’ll keep it short and sweet.  All the news that I would have written various articles for throughout the day will be in this one post.  Yay, I hear you cry, for now not only do I not have to spend my day writing, you don’t have to spend your day reading!  Ok, on to the news we go:

Battlestar Galactica – As the premiere of the last half of the final season approaches, the internet is buzzing with fans guessing who the final Cylon will be.  Sci Fi Scoop’s pick is Lieutenant Gaeta, and it seems this is the majority view. There’s a poll go ing on over at HubDub, and at the time of writing this Gaeta leads the poll with 21%.  A close second is ‘one of the pilots on the basestar in “Revelations”.  Add your vote to the mix if you want here.
