Bear McCreary has announced he is working on two upcoming “must have” soundtrack releases.

The first is the score to Capcom’s sci-fi video game Dark Void, which will be released by Sumthing Else in 3-6 months time. The second is a new Battlestar Galactica soundtrack that will combine the scores of the BSG movie Razor and the soon to be released BSG movie The Plan.

McCreary says the following about Dark Void:

If you guys dig the BSG Season 4 album, then this record is a must-have. One would expect it to be non-stop suspense and action music, and the clips released last spring are examples of this style of writing. However, the Dark Void score contains a surprisingly large amount of emotional and romantic cues, in the same epic style as Caprica or BSG Season 4. It really sounds like a feature film soundtrack, not a game score.

You can read more and hear excerpts from the Dark Void score here.

On the Razor/The Plan combined soundtrack:

I’m also working on a combined soundtrack for Razor / The Plan. If you saw our concerts this summer, then you already heard the showstopping “Apocalypse: Theme from ‘The Plan.’” Otherwise, you’ll hear it in a few months when the movie comes out. And trust me, you’re going to want this album!

McCreary’s latest work can be heard in Fox’s upcoming Human Target.  The series follows bodyguard Christopher Chance (Mark Valley), a man who protects high-end clients from assassins by impersonating them or by masquerading as someone close to them.  Whilst he protects his clients close by his partners work to investigate and find the killer.

Earlier this year McCreary scored the Human Target pilot and subsequently won the gig to score the entire series.

On the Human Target score, Mcreary had this to say:

The score is epic, bombastic and, above all, tons of fun.  I think that any soundtrack, BSG or general Bear fans will fall in love with it!

ScoringSessions.com have just posted a series of images they took whilst visiting the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Brothers for the pilot scoring session.  Check them out here.  You can also read my review of Human Target here.
