‘Star Trek’ Almost Over The $200M Line
Star Trek has enjoyed the second best weekend for a Star Trek movie since Star Trek III: The Search for Spock by earning $43M at the US box office, impressively finishing only $5M short of the debut of Angels and Demons.
Although Star Trek dropped 42.8% percent from the previous weekend it still performed superbly and put a big dent in expectations on the performance of The Da Vinci Code sequel. Three years ago The Da Vinci Code pulled in $77.1M in its opening compared to only $48M for its sequel.
Star Trek has almost crossed the $200M mark in total worldwide box office earnings ($196.8M) and has surpassed the previous record holder Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ($133M) as the highest grossing picture in the franchise.
