‘Star Trek’ Crosses $300M, Now In Top 100 US Films Of All Time
Over the weekend Star Trek edged its worldwide gross to $301.5M ($209.5M US domestic + $92M foreign box office).
J.J. ABrams’ hit film now not only sits in the no.1 spot as the highest grossing film of 2009 but has also entered the all time top 100 list for highest grossing films in the US.
Presently Star Trek sits at no.81 behind Back to the Future ($210.6M) and will probably surpass Back to the Future once the final weekend’s figures are in. You can also expect it to climb much higher in the list as the next 14 highest grossing films are separated by less than $10M. See the list here.
Star Trek still has a way to go to enter the top 100 highest grossing films of all time. The 100th highest grossing film is Sex and the City with $415.3M. It could still do it, however, as the film continues to generate sound takings worldwide and has yet to be released in three major markets: Hong Kong (4 June), India (12 June) and one of the top grossing foreign markets in the world, Mexico (5 June).
