‘Star Trek’: Shatner Hasn’t Seen It, Nimoy Not in Sequel
William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy attended Dragon*Con 2009 n Atlanta, GA. over the weekend and provided fans with a hilarious panel presentation during which a few interesting things emerged.
First, William Shatner hasn’t seen Star Trek. He’d like you to believe the reason is he’s simply been too busy.
Second, there are no plans, at least at this stage, for Leonard Nimoy to reprise his role as Spock in the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.
I could summarize the rest for you, but then I’d rob you of your chance to catch some very humorous moments of banter being exchanged between the two actors. Instead, grab a coffee, sit back and relax. You can watch the entire panel presentation after the jump.

Shatner is a fat dumb idiot. To ignore the francise that made him who he is is plain stupid. The DVD is out and he wants us to believe he’s been too busy to see the new star trek? Does he think we’re ever bigger idiots than he is?

Well, I’m a hardcore lifetime trekker/trekkie and I didn’t watch it until a couple days ago. Just the spoiler that they used Time Travel, AGAIN, was enough for me to delay.
Then I finally watched it… have to admit that it wasn’t too bad, all things considered. But just how desperate for men is the Federation that they put a barely graduated Cadet in charge of their flagship? I dunno, I’m thinking maybe I’m with Shatner on this one.
Seriously, couldn’t they have given him some garbage scow if they absolutely HAD to make him a Captain? Then in the second movie Kirk could swoop in, save the Enterprise by blowing up his old ship, take over the Enterprise, and go on the save the Federation… Wait, never mind, I think they did that somewhere already. Oh well…
Besides, realistically, the only reason he probably watched the other Trek Movies was… well, he was in them. lol

That was a great presentation. Leonard Nimoy is pretty funny , Shatner is so full of himself – but funny.
As for the new Star Trek movie – yeah – I think it was a little strange to have a cadet suddenly in charge of the flagship. They could have worked that better.

With respect to the “powers to be” concerning THE reason why Shatner was not in the last Star Trek Movie, BALONEY. Of course, everyone that’s being following this franchise realizes that “Kirk” died in Generations. But time travel is one of the main premises to this very movie. Especially at the end, where the “old” Spock talks with the “young” Spock – HELLO!!! I see the reason that Shatner wasn’t in the movie, on a more personal level. Without pointing fingers, it is possible that maybe a key person here, made that one of the conditions for his appearance? Putting the “old” KIRK and the “old” SPOCK together – somehow – would have been a writers dream. Especially at the end where Kirk saids something about having to go back to his regular time, because he’s needed to help send off the “new” Enterprise-B along with Scotty and Chekov. But just imagine seeing these two Star Trek “Odd Couple” for a truly last time on the screen together again…
